PAPUA New Guinea elite sprinter Pais Wisil has equaled his own national record at the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)Championship in Canberra, Australia.
He ran a time of 6.64 seconds (with a wind reading of just 0.2 sec) equaling his own national record set in the 60m heats.
There were tensions on the start line. The race only got underway at the third attempt. Wisil flew out of the blocks to finish second in a sensational 6.57 secs.
Unfortunately for the PNG record holder the wind reading was +2.2mps, just a fraction over the 2.0 allowable for record purposes.
Pais is aiming to qualify for the World Indoor championships which will be held in Poland from March 21-23. He is currently well placed in the rankings.
