THE Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) has welcomed the news and appointment of its long serving board member Lorna McPherson as the PNG Chiefs Chief Executive Officer.

PNGNRLC Chairman Adrian Chow congratulated McPherson and was pleased with the announcement of a Rugby League administrator that has connections to PNG now leading the Chiefs into the 2028 NRL season.

 “PNGNRLC congratulates Lorna McPherson on her appointment as CEO of PNG Chiefs.”

“With her leadership, strategic vision and management skills, she has contributed greatly to the development of our national men’s and women’s competitions.”

“I am excited that she has the opportunity and responsibility to contribute at a higher level. Her integrity and passion for PNG and grass roots development will be vital for the Chiefs.”

McPherson first joined the PNGNRLC Board in 2010 and has been serving the role to drive the growth of PNG National Rugby League competitions men’s competition, Digicel ExxonMobil Cup, and under her guidance the introduction of PNG’s National Women’s Competition, Santos Cup.

PNGNRLC would also like to highlight Lorna role in the establishment of the PNG National Youth Competition in 2025.

PNGNRLC would like to wish Ms McPherson all the very best in her new role and would like to encourage the PNG Rugby community and PNG as whole to rally behind her as she steers PNG into the NRL Competition in 2028.
