THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) Women’s XIII team will take on the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Women’s Rugby League team this Sunday.

This will be a curtain raiser match prior to the Host Plus Cup, Round 13 match between SP PNG Hunters and the Sunshine Coast Falcon Jets.

Currently in camp are players of national interest from the 2024 Santos Cup and NRL Bid Championships.

Head Coach Tahnee Norris announced Belinda Gwasamun and Leila Kerowa as co-captains to lead the women’s team on Sunday.

She said the invitational match will allow our domestic players with game time against the ADF side as they prepare for the preseason for the Santos Cup, which kicks off in August.

“Belinda and Leila as co-captains and with their experience will be guiding and leading the way for many of the younger girls in the team and I’m confident in their leadership of the team.”

“The PNGRFL Women’s XIII have been in camp since last Sunday with players also attending the PNGRFL Better program in their activities this week.”

“As a team we are focused on developing this group of players and building on what they are learning in their BETTER programs and the NRL Bid Academy, putting that into the game. Our focus is to focus on the fundamentals and compete,” she said.

The PNGRFL Women XIII vs ADF Women’s Rugby League will be live telecasted on TVWan 2 at 1pm.

The PNGRFL Women XIII will also have another international match against Brisbane Broncos NRL Women’s team next week Sunday June 22.
