The Papua New Guinea Darts Federations is preparing to host the 5th Champions of Champions tournament in Port Moresby later this month.
President Molean Kilepak said it will be weeklong (June 30-July 5) tournament set to be hosted by NCD Darts Association at the home of darts Sports Inn.
“We have confirmed 16 teams from 9 of our 12 affiliated associations to compete for the championship title. Four associations have indicated interest however are yet to register for the tournament.”
He said the big associations preparing include NCD, Port Moresby, Autonomous Region of Bougainville (Higaturu, Arawa, Hago) Kokopo District, Opo Malage (Mekeo), Kimbe and Northern Darts Association to name a few.
“There is a further opportunity extended to clubs/teams to be part of the championship on a non-competitive basis.”
“It is a biennial event, the last was hosted by Lae Metro Darts Association back in 2023 where the Tioli Dart Club from the Port Moresby Darts Association,” he added.
With darts growing rapidly in the country and Kilepak said they want to consistently host these events to provide a platform for consistent performance by the clubs, associations and individual players so that they can be identified to represent PNG in upcoming tournaments in future.
Meanwhile PNG recently competed in the 2025 South Pacific Darts Championship in Fiji where the men’s national team won the title.
This boost has encouraged the national dart federation to expand further as they have plans to send a national team to compete in the World Darts Federation World Cup in Seoul, South Korea later in September.
