THE Papua New Guinea Under 16 Men’s National Team have booked their golden ticket for the Oceania Football Confederation Championship after their recent performances.

In the OFC qualifying tournament in Nukualofa, Tonga, the U16 PNG side made an opening statement. They secured a 5-2 win over Tonga last Friday.

The Matthew Witu coached did not hold back in their second match dominating a 7-0 over American Samoa.

Meanwhile Vanuatu U16s drew in two of their matches against Tonga and American Samoa before their meet against PNG today.

With the last matches to be played among the four teams, PNG has already qualified through their double victories.

Coach Witu reminded his team to stay calm as they prepare to play their last match against Vanuatu.

“I’ve told the boys that we need to finish on a high note, even if we have already qualified. We must send the signal to other countries that we are growing from strength to strength.”

He said the team continued with their training since receiving the news of their qualification. They aim to finish the tournament with flying colors.

Witu is banking on the team work to finish the mission against Vanuatu.

“We are looking ahead for the game before we think of coming home,” he added.
