THE Mariners lead the Isuzu Women’s T20 Smash competition after an exciting weekend of cricket at Amini Park, Port Moresby.

Four matches have been completed with strong early performances, particularly from the Mariners led by the experienced Naoani Vare.

The competition has continued with great energy and commitment from all teams despite the washouts on Sunday.

The women in Blue have made a strong start, leading the table with two wins from two matches.

The Cassowaries Women sit second. They split their opening games. Black Bass Women and Mudmen Women each have one point from a tied match.

Due to Sunday’s rain, the washed-out matches will now be played (today), weather permitting.

Round Two matches will commence from run from tomorrow onward to Friday.

Cricket PNG CEO Richard Done said, “Our aim is to ensure that all teams face each other twice. This will happen before the finals.”

“If the rain persists, we may revise the schedule again but rest assured Cricket PNG is determined to maximize the cricket played throughout the T20 Smash.”

“Despite the weather challenges, the tournament has already delivered exciting cricket and competitive spirit, with plenty more action still to come.”
