THE Tagimoucia Ranadi women’s rugby club are grateful for the exposure after the seven’s team’s participation in Papua New Guinea.
Club founder Ana Robuka said it was a privilege to have a local women’s team from Fiji compete in the 2025 Niupower KMHL Sports Tok 7s in Port Moresby. The team participated after clinching the Women’s Bowl title in Port Moresby.
“We count it as a blessing to be given the opportunity to be called up and told that for us to come and participate in this year’s Sport Tok 7s in PNG.”
“Even though we had some difficulties along the way, we’re still thankful that we’ve been part of this sevens tournament returning home as bowl winners, that’s done in the history books for us.”

The team originally from Nadi traveled along with current Fiji Bitter 7s champions ‘Devo Babas’ to compete PNGs highly anticipated 7s tournament during the weekend.
Robuka said despite the challenges in bringing the women’s team over, they were grateful to receive support with players during game day in Port Moresby.
“We tried so hard to help our girls get here, unfortunately only three were able to travel because the rest did not get their transit visas on time, hence nine of my players had to stay back.”
“However, we are grateful to the Fijian community in Port Moresby for turning up in numbers and to Alana (Auo) for supporting us all throughout the weekend despite our challenges.”
“We also would like to thank our new sisters, who joined in numbers to ensure our three girls had game time during the tournament. Our girls enjoyed the game and were happy to be part of this tournament,” she added.

Meanwhile Tagimoucia Ranadi was established only three years ago and now in their third year of club rugby are taking strides in the rugby Sevens.
The club made its debut at the 2023 Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s in Nadi and has been consistent with the Sevens series ever since.
Tagimoucia scored a golden opportunity to fly over and compete in PNG following recommendations after the club finished third overall 24 teams.
“This is our second invitational sevens tour, the first was last October when we took the girls to compete in the Fiji Day 7s in Brisbane, Australia.”
“We are also looking at another international outing later this year especially for the Bula Rugby 7s in Canada, Fiji Day again in October (Brisbane) and another tournament in Sydney.”
Robuka said they are determined to give much exposure to the young club with emerging sevens stars on the rise.
“We are grateful to the tournament organizers Mr Benson Upas and his teams, the sponsors, Holiday Inn (Accommodation), our families here in PNG and everyone for making this tournament a success, we enjoyed every bit of it and look forward to returning stronger and with full team next year.”
