PAPUA New Guinea’s rising squash star Timonaliz Alarcos-Kriebisch is now Bulgaria’s number one U13 girl’s winner following her participation in the Bulgaria Open tournament recently.
The 12-year-old daughter of former PNG squash elite Merlyn Alarcos has been making strides including her top-notch performance in local competitions in both PNG and Australia before departing with her family to live in Europe.
PNG Squash Racquets Federation president Lady Anna Togolo said, “Timona is a proud product, she is from the Port Moresby Racquets Club Squash development program.”
“Over the past 2 years, she has committed herself on and off the Squash court. The results are now coming in.”
“We look ahead to seeing her Squash game develop. She will gain more experience on the European circuit. This experience will prepare her for the Pacific Games”.
The 2023 PNG Junior female athlete of the year also won the Australia’s U13 Girls title. She won the Bulgaria Junior Open U13 Girls title in the country’s capital, Sofia.
She was up against the home crowd favorite and Bulgaria’s No.1 U13 girl Bozhana Bozhilova.
Timonaliz took the final in 3 (11-4,13-11,12-10). This was Timonaliz’s last Competition in the U13 Girls. She now ages out to play in the U15 Girls.
“Timona would like to thank the Carbine Club of PNG for their sponsorship. She looks ahead to the U15 tour coming up”, Lady Anna added.
Timonaliz is now ranked 10 in the U13 Girls European rankings. She will continue her preparation towards the Samoa 2025 Oceania Closed Championships in October.
